teen council

i was invited by a friend and fellow board member of GLYS to speak at a planned parenthood teen council meeting. i was exhausted yesterday and not looking forward to going. however, i always need to muster up the energy to go to speaking engagements and i am always glad i attend.

last night was my favorite thus far. the group was a great bunch of kids from all the rochester high schools. i spoke about being gay, having a family, living as a minority in rochester and custody as a separated gay parent. the kids and mentors all had great questions. i also had the pleasure of meeting jordan's (a PP mentor)uncle david who is 67 and gay. he has been with his partner, paul for 38 years. pretty amazing. he's also a very well-spoken, intelligent man. his presentation was funny, eloquent and enlightening. i had an excellent evening and was surprised how a 40 min commitment oozed into 2.5 hours ending in hugs and autographs.

also, met a new friend. jordan came up to me after we were done speaking and said he loved my wry sense of humor and would love it if we could hang out more. it was really cute. as adults, i don't think people are very good about making new friends. i clicked with him too. hopefully this will be the start of another great friendship. unfortunately, he left for china today. hafta catch him when he's back.

another little tidbit is that i was pre-approved for a land loan yesterday. i don't want to get too excited. i still need to carefully look at a parcel of land out in zumbro falls. if everything checks out, i hope to make an offer and find myself a land owner within the next few weeks.

hope everyone is doing well.

oh, apologies to josh and laura who celebrated their first wedding anniversary on the 27th and mom and dad who celebrated their 35th on the 28th. i'm so bad about remembering dates. big love to you all and congratulations on your happiness.

Sounds like a good night. Glad you were able to make a new friend...it is hard for us grown ups to branch out.

No worries about forgetting dates...I do it all the time! LOL...apparently it runs in the family.
