margaritas and mole

mother margaret is in town this week for jaclyn's baby shower and a visit, so we had to go out for the traditional mexican meal. she was as feisty as usual, get that one margarita into her and she's ready to box. ha ha ha. it was nice to see everyone and chat and eat good food.

speaking of food, i think i'm in the minority here, but i sure love mole sauce. i think it's one of those funny things that you love or you don't. anyone who knows me is aware of my affinity for unique flavor combinations (faithful readers will remember this post from 2005). so, mole sauce is one of those things for me, what a great combination of strong flavors: chili peppers and cocoa. i think i read once that the mayans used to drink a hot cocoa and chili mixture which served as their coffee. how did i get off on this tangent? oh yeah, i had mole enchiladas last night courtesy of mother margaret.

after dinner we stopped over to see our single-balled friend to see how the cancer battle is going. his body isn't appreciating the radiation so much, but he only has 7 treatments left. we are so glad his prognosis has been so positive. i'm also happy that i'm sticking to my resolution to see/check-in/contact the people on my favorite people on the planet list. last night i could have gone home and plopped on the couch to watch a movie or done laundry or cleaned for the shower coming this weekend, but instead we saw 4 of the 10 on my list. i would call that a successful night. then just to toot my(our)own horn, i saw another person at work; leeser talked to another on the phone, i emailed 3 others. so by my math, i had some kind of contact with 9 of the 10 people on my list. how sweet is that?

everyone get busy with your lists! it helps you to remember that what is really, really important in your life is actually who. my house is a mess, there is 8 tons of dog shit under the melting snow in my yard, i have two loads of clean laundry unfolded downstairs, there are hairballs on the kitchen floor and i don't give a crap. i feel happy and lucky because i have these people around me.

i'm not sure what is going on, i sound like a crazy person. yesterday i had poop soup for breakfast, today i think i'm the Dali lama or something. i'm gonna ride the wave. i hope everyone has a good day. call, email and visit.
