i don't have to work tomorrow, i don't have to work tomorrow, i don't have to work tomorrow. what a slacker i am. i worked the weekend, had monday and tuesday off, worked wednesday and thursday and off again on friday (and the weekend AND monday if anyone cares). the weather is shaping up! my schedule is shaping up! my knee is doing ok! this is the stuff of summer, less work and more play i always say.
one amazing thing about the midwest weather is this: lovely weather is in such short supply that you have to grasp every opportunity to enjoy it. being born and raised here, this has obviously been an innate sensibility. but our friends from other parts of the world, oh let's say australia, have never experienced this "crazy-cabin-fever-busy-every-single-weekend-from-may-to-september" phenomenon that we call a midwestern summer.
it really is interesting to consider. in australia for example, no one sits out to "get a tan" because there is sun all year around, all the time, any time you want it. no one is rushing to the courtyard between classes to catch some rays or stripping down after work to hit the river shore before the sun is extinguished for the evening.
so, while having a plethora of sun and great weather is a nice thought; i love the high that us pastie-skinned-sun-depraved minnesotans get when the weather starts warming up. and i love the craziness of summer, the being busy every single weekend, the first grilled food of the summer, the first cold beer on the back porch. i love all that crap.
yay for summer, yay for the midwest and yay for the first big weekend! i hope everyone else has big plans too, it's gonna be 70 degrees, baby! shave your legs, girls!
