successfully tubed

we had a cranky toddler this morning since she wasn't allowed to eat. leeser and i were both pretty disappointed with the time her surgery was scheduled. we weren't due to check-in for prep until 9:15 am. L spent an hour on hold last night trying to get an earlier appt, but had no luck.

this morning i was sitting on the bed sweaty and smelly after my run and got a call from the doc's office to come in early. so we hustled buns and got there an hour early. that was nice, although having a moment of notice wasn't the most calm way to start out an already stressful morning.

ruby did fine though. she was fast friends with all the doctors and nurses. happy to smile and waive to anyone in the vacinity. coming out of anesthesia was pretty shakey. she was just so confused and unhappy. but we were able to quiet her down and even got her to drink a little water and have some of her favorite yellow oreo cookies. we got home and she guzzled her morning milk and went right to sleep.

the doc said she suctioned mucous-y infected fluid from behind her left ear and also fluid from behind her right. so, we suspect she will have lots more drainage and be feeling much better as she starts to heal.

thanks to everyone for all the well wishes, thoughts and prayers today. hopefully when she wakes up today she be feeling lots better.

I love your pictures! Zach had tubes twice and both times all went very well and he was so much better - no more constant ear infections! He finally out grew them around 4 or 5!

now that is something no parent wants to see, their child in a hospital gown. However, Ruby wears it very well; she could wear a brown bag for that matter. So glad everything went well. Hoping that it results in a clearer and pain-free life from here on out.
