rez-uh-LOO-shuhn time

so, it's that time of the year again. i have been hinting at a big resolution for this year. this has been a big year, big changes. i think that warrants a big idea.

so i have two formal resolutions. of course i'll try to eat better and get healthier, all that. i think we try for that every year. but those resolutions have lost their bite as i have a someone poor result each year. so here are the new ones for 2009:

1. play hacky sack (footbag to the rest of the world) more often. i used to play a bit in college and it was always fun. i would stand in the hallway of the dorm and kick around to give myself a break from studying. i used to carry a hacky sack in my backpack all the time. i have no idea why i got away from this habit. so, we'll see what i can do to rouse my pals and people around me to play. maybe ruby can learn as soon as she gets better balance!!

2. this is the big one. i have decided to not make any purchases of any items that i already own for the entire year of 2009. this one is going to be really tough. i think it comes from a good place and it will be a great exercise in creativity and self-control. i think i will save a lot of $$ as i basically have everything i need to survive. unless something breaks, i am set to go.

i have developed a few guidelines as well. they are as follows:
a) toiletries, medications, work clothes are exempt.
b) presents are also exempt.
c) if i can find something used or barter/trade for it, that is also acceptable.
d) if i find something i feel very strongly about, i reserve the right to purchase that item for myself and donate the equivalent dollar value to a charity of my choice. all purchases must come from my very tiny allowance. (i might give myself a number of times i can do this; perhaps 5 times for the year??)

so, there you have it, dear readers. send me your resolutions, i'll get a list together for tomorrow. have a safe and happy new year. please don't drive after enjoying any adult beverages.

here's to a bright, shiney 2009!!!
