i have been a bit behind with the blogging, so i'll have to catch up. on wednesday the 18th we went over to jackie and drewbie's for dinner and to meet their 7 month old baby boy, will. he was a doll. it was good to catch up and lovely to play with the baby. he was so alert and interactive. we miss seeing those two.
then on thursday, anna and davO picked us up to go to south bank and wander around the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art. That was fun. I especially loved the bird nests crafted out of shredded american dollar bills, as well as a room made of mirrors, black lights, water and ping pong balls. pictured here is a medicine mask.
friday we went for an all day shopping trip. we were able to find a few more gifts for people. i found a few work shirts too (not that i was thinking about work). i also finally got my pair of traditional australian work boots, they are called blundstones. we had a little bit of trouble finding them because my feet are so small. the smallest size they are made in is a 3 and i wear a 4. so, i'm excited to break them in.
before the shopping trip we went to the Breakfast Creek Hotel so the meat-eating kids could enjoy a meat pie. i had fish and chips. we sat outside and it was just noon. i was amazed to see how many people were in on their lunch hour from whatever place of business drinking beer. how great would it be to go out to lunch with the managment group in the states and have a few beers??? in the spirit of things anna and i enjoyed a few beers. they went down pretty smoothly in the warm noontime sun.
