90% of winter jackets

you know, i was noticing today on the bus, how much i notice winter jackets. i don't know why. some people notice shoes or handbags or whatever. i like shoes too if they are really cool, but i definately notice winter coats.

so, i was taking a little mental survey this morning. i found out that i am annoyed by a lot of the jackets walking on to the bus. i think this might be because 90% of these jackets are outdated. I don't mean, just last year's gap jacket, but I mean seriously outdated by something like 20 years.

for example. the lady who sat with me today had on a cowhide colored smooth leather jacket. it came down to her waste with apron-style pockets in front. and the back is what really did it. it had that flap-style thing going on. you know where it looks like you have a cape on the upper part of your back? something like what a vented runners jacket might look like. nice.

my favorite of all favorites is worn by a lady who gets on half way through the route. she has a floor length (yes floor, not ankle)houndstooth-ish jacket. it's made out of uncomfortable looking fabric with puffy gathered shoulders, pleated pockets and leather accenting. holy moly. i have never seen anything like that on a real person. and, it's so ugly that it can't even be considered cool-ugly-retro. plus the lady who wears it couldn't pull that off anyway, she still has a 70's charlie's angels feathered hair cut. but it is entertaining each and every day that i see her and her coat.
