no time

i guess the universe is against me today for knowing what time it is. first, i forgot my cell phone at home on the kitchen table. i haven't forgotten my phone in ages, i can't even remember being somewhere without my phone. also, based on my phone, i stopped wearing a watch to work. a) my phone has the time displayed on it and b) i have to stick my hand in and out of a machine all day, plus gloves, plus a long-sleeved coat...... so the watch was getting in the way. c) when biking, my arm would get sweaty and we all know what kind a funk a watchband can have after countless sweaty arm episodes. now, anyone who knows me knows, i am a serious watch person. i have tons of watches (and yes, only one arm... well two but i only need a watch on one). but i felt ok not wearing watches to work because of the aforementioned cell phone and there are clocks in every room here at the lab. so, i haven't had a problem for almost a year now

then, today of all days, i had forgotten my cell and the friggin' clock breaks. so, i climb up and pull it down to change the battery. more often than not, that is the culprit. holy crap, what do i find? a C-sized duracell. who uses c batteries anymore? [insert naughty vibrator joke here] but anyway, nothing in this whole lab uses c batteries. so, upon further consideration, the supply lady and i decided it would be better for us to get a new clock rather than special ordering 1 battery every so often. so there you have it.

luckily, my computer has the time and there is a clock in each of the other 3 rooms i work in. but after three years of looking in the same spot to find the time, i think i'll be spending a fair amount of time staring at a screw in the wall until our new clock arrives.
