i'm not the best with dates, but i don't recall being home for thanksgiving since i left for college ten years ago. how time flies! i am pleased to report that i have managed to get thanksgiving off, and not only the thursday (a thursday holiday, how ridiculous, but this is another can of worms) but more importantly and seemingly more difficult the friday off as well.
so, i am excited to eat the kind of meal i was raised on again. even luckier am i since my wife also got the time off so we can share the holiday together. luckier still is that we were able to get the mon, tues and wednesday off. so, look out racine, wisconsin! i will be in town for 7 whole days. i think this may be my longest stretch since the summer of 1996.
i find that since i've hit the 10 year mark and maybe even a little sooner than that, i'm forgetting the names of streets, how to get places in my own home town. i lived there for 18 years before leaving. this is a little sad. but, hopefully this week i can reconnect with the old joint. i even have tentative plans to go back to my high school and visit with my coach. maybe some of my sports records are still on the wall. who knows? i even hear that they have done a bunch of renovations.
i hope everyone out there gets to enjoy as much as i plan to.
also, happy late turkey day to our canadian friends who i recently learned celebrate in october.
