my new running shoes. two pieces of 4mm thick vibram cut to my foot shape and about $0.50 worth of climbing rope. i know, i know. crazy right? i have been doing a lot of research about how modern shoes have caused a lot of damage to our feet in turn our ankles, knees, hips, backs.
since i have a history of pain in three of four coupled with my dislike of shoes generally i thought i'd give this a try. i have spent the last few months conditioning my legs, feet and ankles in hope and anticipation of shifting to barefoot running.
went on my first barefoot run last night. it was only a half mile, but all cement. my legs and feet felt great. also no knee pain to speak of. i had a hard time making myself stop. the key to this transition is going slowly so i don't actually bruise my feet.
if anyone reading this is actually interested in the theories behind this stuff, you can look here. this is wear i learned to make my huaraches and also where i ordered the kit.
hope all is well with everyone. not much else new to report. maybe i should post some more recent picture of alice, ruby and noah. i'll put that on my to-do list.

Interesting! Hope it works well for you...my feet and knee hurt just thinking about it.

so - the only downside being that there is no protection when ruby dumps the bike pump on your foot???
