relatively uneventful

well the new year rung in all by itself and the decade rolled over on my heart. i don't know that i have ever been so pleased to kiss a year good-bye as i was this one.

i spent christmas completely solo this year. well, miles and i. i was fine with it as the weather was weird and i had plenty of things to do around the house. christmas eve though, i was invited to my co-worker's house. i think i was the youngest one there by 15 years or so, but it was a lovely evening. the food was delicious and the company was great.

my new year celebration consisted of spending the day cleaning until daina and boone arrived. miles and i each had a friend over for the occasion. we watched movies, chatted and ate good winter foods. it was a lovely way to spend the holiday.

new year's day thru yesterday was spent in the basement. mom and dad graciously drove all the way up with a washer and dryer in the back of the truck. i was so excited to have laundry in the basement. unfortunately, after much crawling on the floor, disassembly and reassembly of the dryer we found it to be inoperable. dad thinks a bearing in the motor is shot. basically, it's a very obnoxious paperweight. i have never wanted to spend that much time with my face inside the guts of a dryer, and i hope to never do it again. bleh. i am still sore from lifting these monstrosity appliances and crawling around on the floor in an effort to complete my own private laundromat.

finally ended up running to home depot and buying a new one. it's all installed thanks to dad and running like a dream. isn't it odd that my biggest and best bright spot of the whole holiday season is being able to do laundry in my basement??? aw well, so it goes.

ruby comes home tonight from australia after 3 weeks. i have missed her terribly and can wait to get a hug and a kiss tonight.

hope everyone had a great holiday and year end.

I need your help - I have no idea when Kempo gets in - she hasn't given me any information. I have her inoperable car in our driveway. so needless to say I'm a bit worried right now.

Any big resolutions for the new year? Did you go out and buy some new clothes since your last year resolution is over? Just curious...
