free feet

so, several weeks ago i woke up and felt emphatically against shoes for some reason. every day since then, i've been struggling and feeling really claustrophobic every time i have to put them on. i've been avoiding them at all costs. shopping at the hippy store with no shoes, wandering around everwhere barefoot. i even went to the ani difranco concert without any shoes on. kayler graciously agreed to carry them in her bag so i wouldn't get 'in trouble' if anyone noticed. don't get too grossed out, the mayo civic center is really clean. anyway, i did get into trouble when a burly butch lesbo security guard was checking me out...she noticed no shoes. ha ha ha. it was funny.

ok, i digress. so i had done some research some years ago about the benefits of playing sports and running barefoot. it was after i read an interesting article about kenyon runners and historical runners in africa and biblical times, etc. how they ran so far and so quickly over changing unique terrain with few injuries in bare feet.

i stumbled on to a magical type of footwear. they were only developed a few years ago, i think. anyway, i got a pair and hope to never have to wear another kind of shoes again. i know that's probably not possible because admittedly these things look pretty weird. whenever feasible, they will absolutely be my first choice.

check them out here: fivefingers

in the meantime, please view, welcome, get to know my new shoes. we are going steady. i hope the honeymoon stage never ends!!

Paul's cousin has a pair of these - he's a runner and had a ton of foot pain so decided to give these a try. as far as I know, he's still running in them today.

btw, you're crazy - always something new with you which means never a dull moment - good luck with the anti-shoe movement Pastey.
