we made it!

well, the weather certainly wasn't pleasant by any means. laura's husband, josh pointed out maybe that is why they call it the 'fool's five'. it is in april and historically it's not warm and pleasant out. anyway, i was very happy to have my baby sis to keep me company. even if she did want to sprint at the end and i was not having any of it. i was happy to plod along at my 10:30/mile pace. we don't have our official times yet, but we did it in about 54min 30sec (we think). so, i guess my goal of being under an hour was met. we had a slow start because we were in the 'good runners' start section and i guess we should have started at the front in the 'competative runners' position. oh well, live and learn.

we raised several hundred dollars for cancer research (laura raised twice as much as i did) so it was worth it. i wouldn't call it fun, but a worthy cause. thanks to josh, leeser and ruby for looking after us and coming to cheer. it was nice to have family there.

thank you also to everyone who donated and has been wishing me well and sending notes of encouragement. don't forget to keep ana vankoeverden in your prayers too, she's the reason i ran. have a good week.

good job little runny mcrunnersons. i did not envy you at all and i am proud of you both. it was very heart warming to see so many people out in the crappy weather raising money for a good cause. let's hope it helps finding a cure for Ana and all the other cancer patients.

I agree, it was very heart warming to see so many people out there! I thought it was cool when they had all the cancer survivors stand while all other runners took a knee at the start.

Everyone please keep Josh's grandma in your thoughts and prayers. She is fighting a very painful battle with an aggressive cancer which everyone has just found out about this past Wednesday. It's been a tough week for his whole family and this week isn't looking much better.

And Sandi, there is a 1 mile fun run/walk that you could do with us if we do it again...and Leeser...and Josh too!
