weekend fun

we had kind of a fun, eventful weekend. not too crazy, but fun. we took shorty to the apple orchard where she got to do the following things: ride on a hay wagon, 'walk' thru a corn maze, sit in a pumpkin patch, pick apples, eat apples, look at goats, peacocks and llamas, then she got to watch while her mommies ate caramel apples. mmmm. she will appreciate that in a few years. here we are in the wagon: there are also more photos on flickr and in the 'recent ruby' show which i have updated.

then saturday evening we got a babysitter and went to a 'no kids' party. so there were adult beverages and what i would call adult appetizers too. lots of fancy cheeses and such. delicious. i didn't drink because it was my turn to drive since lisa-hasn't-had-anything-to-drink-in-19-months-and-now-it's-my-turn. anyway, i ate a lot of calories at that party, but it was tasty and enjoyable.

sunday we decided to skip church because we needed to get too many things done. one of them being going to the furniture store to take advantage of the interest free financing that is going on because of our nation's depression. a feeble attempt to stimulate the buying power of consumer's far and wide. my back is bugging me again and i noticed i didn't have a sore back the whole time i was away in canada. so, we thought hey, maybe we should get a bed and a new mattress instead of the one we have been sleeping on for 5 years, on the floor.

so we went to HOM furniture and left the joint with a new mattress, bed frame, matching side tables and a sweet, sweet chair. well we didn't leave with them, we paid for them, then left. well, we didn't pay for them, we signed documents that legaly bound us to eventually pay for them, paid the tax, then left. here is the new chair we both fell in love with. it matches our bed, but we are going to put it in the living room:

finally, we met an old friend of mine from college on sunday afternoon. she is in town for a week or so visiting family. she is a professional photographer, so we decided to have some family portraits taken. we are anxious to see how they come out. i wish i already had some to post, but since i didn't take them, we have to actually wait for real proofs. kind of an odd feeling when i'm used to having my own. but i'm sure you can imagine trying to set up photos with a mobile 10 month old and use the timed exposure isn't the most fruitful or efficient of endeavors.

hope everyone has a good work week.

I should have been there with you at the orchards - bummer. Paul, Oli and I did end up going to one just 10 minutes away...it was a brief trip but nice all the same.

love the chair!
