the most important part

about two years ago our girls went to vegas to have a committment ceremony. we didn't know them back then. it was very small, just 4 guests and the girls. however, that union was not legally binding, since the great and glorious united states does not recognize same-sex marriages (we'll just leave it at that and i'll resist the pull to get on a soapbox).

so, shortly after we booked our tickets the girls asked us to attend the actual legalization as witnesses for them. grande olde england does in fact recognize a legal union between same-sex partners. we were, of course, flattered and thrilled to be a part of the day.

so, on september 12th we donned our special tshirts and took at drive over to bicester (strangely enough pronounced bister) town hall. it was a lovely little ceremony, basically a few words and signatures all around. they girls wanted to go out for pizza after. we did and it was lovely. then did a little shopping (i'll leave out the tiny incident in the mall carpark, clarissa). it was a nice day and we were happy to be included. congratulations on being legal!

p.s. i posted an England 2008 photo set on flickr. you can have a look if you like. i'll try to do a few more blogs about our adventures in england. at the moment all three of us are sick. ruby picked up a cold and of course we got it too. so we are struggling with post holiday blues and feeling ill. i'll try not to bitch too much and just be thankful for the time we had away. hope everyone is well.

Thank you all for being such a big part of the day. We couldn't think of any more suitbale people to share it with. Ruby was a perfect girl (as usual) and was perfect at being ring bearer and signing her little cross. HUGE LOVE xxx

thanks for letting us share the day with you two. we didn't have to get dressed up, do our hair or even mingle with drunk relatives - i would call that the perfect wedding. i love you both very much. happy rest of your lives together.
