fireworks and such

we had such a nice three day weekend. got to catch up with dave and trish who we haven't sat down and eaten dinner with since ruby was born. now that is just plain ridiculous. the meal was great. dave brought fish that he caught and cleaned in alaska, then he even cooked it too. it was delicious. (note: i now know where salmon-colored comes from, fresh salmon caught in the wild really is 'salmon-colored' go figure).

the weather was gorgeous and other friends filtered to our premises as the night was falling. we sat around chatting and drinking and laughing. then we all enjoyed the fireworks together from the end of my driveway (excellent logistics for this one holiday per year). except for ruby who tried to make it, but could only stay up an extra hour past her bedtime. then up to feed and sleep through the whole display.

there was hiking and other dinner parties and drinks shared with friends and sleeping in. a lovely weekend. except the humidity yesterday kinda got to all of us. our central air is on the fritz. we now know ruby doesn't do too well with the humidity (like mother, like daughter... who cares about the biology). so, we are considering our options for replacing the AC. but, let's not let that dampen how nice the time away from work was, how much great food we ate and how many friends we caught up with.

i hope everyone else also enjoyed the holiday as much as our family did.
