From the second sexiest australian i know

and here we have the lovely and talented (freshly shaven to raise $ to help find a cure for leukemia) anna marie burck-bumpin-bunk-burpin. when she isn't busy taking advanced computerized images of people's brains and various other body parts, she is whipping up sharp-witted, intelligent podcasts. check her out here. you won't be disappointed and if nothing else, you can listen to an australian accent for a while. everyone loves that. thank you, anna for taking the time to write a blog. you are the best sister-in-law anyone could ask for.

GUESS WHAT?! (KEMPIN-STYLE)

So I’ve been thinking about what to write about for Painty’s blog for a while now and last night I finally found the inspiration I needed. I was chatting to my darling sister yesterday and we played our usual game of guess what? You might ask how one would play this intriguing game. Well, out of the blue one of us will say “Guess what I did yesterday?” or “Guess what I bought?” something like that and funnily enough the other person has to guess what, by asking a series of questions with yes/no answers. The key to the game is that it usually comes at a very random time and with something that is not so easily guessable and definitely not related to the conversation you were just having. For example in our conversation yesterday I think we were talking about frisbees (as you do) and then Lisa said “Guess what we bought recently?” and after a few questions I naturally came out with the correct answer – “Nintendo Wii.” Now this game brings Lisa and I endless hours of entertainment but it seems every time I try and play it with anyone else they just don’t get it – they either give up way too quickly or lose any interest in whatever I had to say just to avoid even playing the guess what game (that’s my husbands usual tactic). I think the hardest one I ever got right was “Guess what I got for my birthday?” - the answer – “A star named after you.” Now that took some work that one but there is no way I would ever give up on a guess what question. I guess it’s a sister thing but I hope Lisa and I still do it when we’re both little 80 year olds.

You know what - I can actually imagine Lisa playing that. I don't know you Anna but if you are anything like your sister i am sure I would love you heaps. Good game, good game - that is a saying from an English game show! Sorry I am rambling, I have had one hell of a day......xxx

as a lucky (or unlucky) person who decided to marry into this family, i feel i can comment. these kempin games and jokes that get taken to their grave, reincarnated and beaten to death again are out-of-control. i cannot begin to explain. (that's not to say it's not an endearing trait).

i have developed a system though. when leeser gets me involved in this game, if i don't have the energy to get all the way to the guess, i start guessing crazy things and she just gives up and tells me. for example if she says, 'guess what i got for brekkie today?' i make a few guesses of: bagel, eggs, toast. when i am done guessing i start saying: poop muffins or african grubs or rocky mountain oysters. he he he.

i'm not a poor sport, it's just you don't know this game unless you've been subjected to it.

the language between you two sisters...it's a lovely thing but even more so I think it's a Kempin thing, not for outsiders to attempt. What the two of you find humorous entertains me but often I don't really understand why. I've always envied your unique sister bond, especially since I don't have a sister myself. I'd say my relationship with Kempo is the closest I've felt to having a sister of my own.

love the haircut Anna! you are one of a kind and a gift to everyone who is lucky to know you.

YAY for the Guessing Game. I am saddened to hear that Anne - you get people who aren't interested in it either. Know that I will always play this game with you. I think one of my favourites involved Schmiccy. I was working a a pharmacy in Banff and she called one day when i was on lunch. She spent nearly the whole hour trying to guess what i just did. Turns out that 'Ripping the pocket off my pants' was unguessable for her. Anne - i am sure you would have gotten it. Great Blog - it has made me smile.
