monday's don't ever really make me smile

today is no exception. i couldn't sleep last night. i don't know why. shorty was fast asleep and making no ruckus of any kind. i don't know what was keeping me up. maybe the certain tilt of the earth on her axis? who the heck knows? anyway, that led me to wake up feeling a bit like one might feel after having ridden around on a hay wagon for 8 hours. tired and sore and cranky and with a thumping headache. i wonder why it is, that when you can't sleep you always manage to actually fall asleep just 10 minutes before your alarm goes off. so not only do you get a poor amount of sleep you have to go through the pain of waking up. it's a dirty trick the universe likes to play on me now and again.

anyway, luckily i had pre-mixed my cream/milk combo in a to-go bottle last night. i had also brewed a fresh stash of espresso, so i just dumped in the coffee and was out the door. i was at the bus stop right on time, i waited and waited and waited in -25 F weather due to windchill. the bus finally came, 10 min late and passed me. i had to hold up my arm and he slammed on the breaks. it was a new guy. he wanted me to stand in front and tell him the route. i did, but wasn't happy about it because i couldn't have my usual time of sitting quietly, sipping coffee, listening to my ipod and emailing on betty. instead i said, right here, left at the lights, no, not this street.

anyway, i have run into a few hiccups at work i won't go into now. eventually i will spell them out when i have a handle on what is going on a bit better.

now i am sitting here sour i didn't get an afternoon coffee before the close coffee shop closed, and i can't be bothered walking all the way down to the other one. i have a sore crink on the right side of my neck and my feet feel sweaty. if i knew it was safe in here, (ie if i had an office of my own) i would take off my shoes and let my feet breathe a bit. oh well. i guess it's not all bad, it is 30 min to quitting time.

then i get to go dress shopping. woohoo. can't wait to get that out of the way though.

clare flies to switzerland tomorrow for a one day business thing. fingers crossed she makes it there and home safe.
