i like it neat, mostly

so i accidentally discovered this weekend, that i prefer scotch neat or mostly neat. i guess technically i like a scotch and water. who drinks that stuff? well, i guess i do. the thing is i had a little glass of glenlivet on saturday evening and it was with ice, so i was sipping it, but never finished it. then sunday morning there it sat where i had left it on a stool. by that time all the ice had melted, leaving a nice neat glass of whiskey and water. so i picked it up and took a sip just to see what i would think, fully intending to want to spit it out and shudder while it went down.

i couldn't believe how smooth and delicious it tasted. so then i wondered if it could be true? if i liked scotch and water. so i dumped that out because it had been sitting out open all night. cleaned the glass and poured a shot of scotch and shot of bottled water.... then i drank that down while laying on the couch enjoying the sun. it went down really easily and when i got up i was feeling a little bit drinky.

so i learned two important things. 1) don't put ice in my scotch and 2) don't drink whiskey while laying down on the couch in the sun on a sunday afternoon. no one can gauge how drunk they are getting. ha ha ha.
