"If you could find one lost item from childhood, what would it be?"
in seventh grade one of my closest friends went on a trip to visit her dad up in hudson, wi. he lived somewhere out in the boondocks near a train line. so, she went and put a bunch of pennies on the tracks and smashed them. then her and her dad made necklaces out of them. she tied them on green twine. when she got back from her trip, she gave them too all of us (our group of friends)at her confirmation party.
i put that necklace on and didn't take it off until maybe my senior year of high school? maybe my mom remembers?? but i wore that thing a lot. anyway, i know i had it with me in college too, but somewhere in all the moves it seems to have disappeared. i always considered it a good luck charm.
i would love to have it back again. it represented some very close friendships and some of the best times in my life.

Well, this is something i would have wanted back then, but not any more. I was in kindergarten and it was show-n-tell day and so i brought my mermaid bath doll. she was green & white and had a sparkly green comb and a floating ring. Anyway...when i got off the bus from school, i realized that i lost the comb and i can remember crying and crying and looking everywhere in the grass at the bus stop trying to find the comb and thinking that my mom was going to be mad at me cuz i wasn't going straight home from the bus and that i lost the comb. it was a heartbreaker at the time. Very traumatic. I don't think i ever found it either.
i had a little pair of boots that a had a little tiny pocket on the outside (just big enough to fit the equivalent of a quaret in). I got them from a friend of the family - their son had grown out of them. I wore them from when they were too big, to just right to being way too small. I LOVED those silly boots. I don't remember how they were removed from my feet at the end of their life but i am sure it wasn't a good day.
I can't think of anything from as far back as childhood so I'll participate by answering what one thing I would want back from my High School years. My Dad made a necklace out of old nails when he was younger - it was in a shape of an owl. I wore that necklace forever!!! I loved it - even now I see it in old pictures and wonder where it went, wishing I still had it. It was special because my dad made it and it was one of a kind.

Mine would definitely be BabyBaby the doll. She was a keeper. I had her until about a year or so ago when my oldest child beheaded and de-armed her. It was very sad and I had a funeral.
