i LOVE ramen

so i just had my 4th or 5th bout of disappointment at lunch time. i've been getting these back to nature brand (or something like that) cups of soup for days i don't have time to make a sandwich or anything. they are 100% organic and fat-free. let me tell you they taste like it. these things are the reason my republican-steak-gnawing-cambell's-loving friends scoff at me..... and i don't blame them. i've tried black bean, split pea, minestrone, lentil and creamy potato. so, i think i can confidently say i've given these things a fair shake, right? i have found: a) all of them taste darn near exactly the same. i think slight variations may just be subliminal due to color differences. b) they have the consistancey of wet saw dust, they never turn into a liquid soup per se. (i have added more water to see if i was mixing it wrong- no dice.) c) every flavor leaves a disgusting after taste and foul odor behind (in my mouth and later from my butt). d) they are pretty spendy. e) where are the chunks? even ramen noodles have peas and carrots in them, that's all i'm asking for.

so, in summary i'd like to say from now on, i am going to have to nix the natural soup cups. i'm running back to my old college staple....ramen noodles. these things got me through some pretty hard times and some pretty hard hang-overs. so not only are they comfort food, they create a sense of nostalgia. i know they aren't the healthiest things, but we are talking once in a while, when i'm running late. i think i can justify this with my own soul. so......

YAY FOR RAMEN!!! (chicken flavor, of course)

Have you tried those udon noodles that come in the Ramen-looking packs? They cost a bit more (like 79¢ a package), but they're not fried in palm oil and therefore have very little fat. And they're really good! The sodium content is another story, but it's no worse than the sodium content of ramen.

I seem to remember a low-fat version of ramen that I used to get when I was in college, but I can't find them anymore.

i haven't tried these noodles. i will check them out, thanks for the tip. also, it does worry me that there is no nutrition information on the ramen soup cups, this can only mean bad things.
